When back pain strikes, it can be worrying and painful. Fortunately, low back pain is usually innocuous and rarely serious. After ruling out serious pathology, most low back pain is managed conservatively. There is evidence that simple analgesics such as physical heat in a hot water bottle, or a heat wrap from a chemist, can make a difference in acute and subacute low back pain. As of May 2021, this evidence base is being further tested in a randomized control trial. Overall, it is a low cost and simple treatment that is worth a trial. If you require a heat pack, please contact Dr. Matthew Bulman at 0420525383 and he can supply you with a low cost option, or, try your local chemist.
